What did Gilbert and his cousins do that upset his grandparents?
They ran through the house, they were noisy, they played with their games at the breakfast table, and they ate their Grandma’s flowers.
Can you think of what Gilbert and his cousins should do instead?
They should be respectful of other people. They should walk in the house, they should be quiet if someone is sleeping, they should talk to others at the breakfast table instead of playing games. And they shouldn’t eat Grandma’s flowers!
Why did the Grandma and Grandpa say, “Children, please don’t do that!”
Because they didn’t like what the children did. They wanted the children to be respectful.
What does ‘respect’ mean?
Having respect for another person is when you treat the person in the same way you want to be treated. You treat the person nicely and you think about what you can do to show the other person that you care about them.
